THE DIVINE OFFICE

This event has been postponed until Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7.00 p.m.
St. Paul tells us in 1 Thessolonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing."  Please join us on Thursday, November 19, from 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. for Evening Prayer and a seminar of the Liturgy of the Hours.
This will be presented by Rita Thiron of the Diocese of Lansing, Office of Worship.

DO YOU GRIEVE A LOSS?

Will it be difficult to celebrate the holidays this year?  Come to A Holiday Service for Hope and Healing at St. Mary Catholic Church, 700 Columbia Dr., Durand on Tuesday November 17, at 7.00 p.m.  We will acknowledge our losses as we look for comfort and hope.  You may bring a picture or other remembrance of your loss.  This service is cosponsored by the Health Resource Ministry and the BeFriender Ministry at St. Mary Parish.  Invite another you feel may benefit from this ecumenical service.

Respite Volunteers Needed

Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee is offering a Volunteer Training on Thurs. Nov. 19th from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. at the Perry Church of the Nazarene, 13100 W. Ellsworth Rd. Perry.  The training is designed to prepare volunteers to serve adults with ongoing health needs, and their care giving families.  A light luncheon is served for persons attending.

Respite Volunteers is a Faith in Action nonprofit that provide temporary companionship to patients, providing respite to the family caregivers and also provide individualized help to care giving families with extenuating circumstances.  Volunteers typically spend one to four hours a week of time with the patient to help as needed.

BREAKFAST IN BETHLEHEM

Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 9.00 a.m. to 12 Noon.  This Saturday morning Retreat of Advent and Christmas reflection - back by popular demand - features Jo Ann Hryniewiecki and Ethel Hooker as facilitators.  A delicious breakfast will be served beforehand.  For more information or to make a reservation please call St. Francis Prayer Center at 810-787-5330.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE SALE TIME AGAIN

The ladies of the Knights of Columbus are once again planning the 6th Annual Christmas Cookie Sale.  We would like to extend an invitation to All the ladies of St. Mary's to help us with this very worth while cause.
Please remember we are still accepting donations of baking needs for our Christmas Cookie Sale.  All proceeds from this bake sale will benefit local food banks.  This year the need is so great, we will have our work cut out for us.

Dates to remember:
Christmas Cookie Sale on December 12th and 13th after all Masses.
Cookie decorating on Friday, December 11th in the church basement starting at 9.00 a.m.

Christian Meditation Prayer Group

Will begin on September 24th, Thursday evening at 6.30 p.m. in the gathering space.  This prayer group will gather for one hour to come to silence and stillness through contemplative music, listening to the word, and silent prayer of the heart, or meditation. This group is open to anyone wishing to deepen their faith and prayer life, and become more open to the Holy Spirit.  Our first evening is entitled "Silent Communion."  Please join us!

This is a bible study for adults or teens.  The book Threshold Bible study entitled "Eucharist" can be purchased for $12.95 + tax.  Please sign up in the gathering space after all masses.

The Salvation Army will be taking applications: Beginning October 19 through November 6, 2009, Monday, Wednesday and Friday's for 10.00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 302 E. Exchange St., Owosso.  No appointments necessary.  Bring your picture ID, proof of income and Social Security cards for each member in the family.
